He was a senior, a popular boy: the school mascot, involved in athletics and show choir, and a prince on the homecoming and prom courts. She was a junior, a quiet girl with special needs who didn't move in the same circles as the popular boy. But she had the confidence to ask him to accompany her to the prom, and his response made headlines.
"I would love to go to Prom with you Destiny <3 <3," Grant Kelley wrote in response to the Facebook prom-posal. He shared the post on his own timeline, and made sure that everyone knew he was serious about taking Destiny McLemore to the special needs prom in Anderson, Ind.

"He said, 'I can't wait to have fun with her,'" McLemore's mother, Angi Burrows, tearfully told WTHR-TV. "Every morning this week she's woken up and asked if this prom day." Burrows pinned a flower onto Kelley's shirt and stepped back to admire the couple. McLemore was radiant in a sparkly pink dress, a tiara and a huge smile.

"Destiny is such a great girl. She's fun, and I knew we would have a great time together," said Kelley. The couple danced beneath colored lights and enjoyed the company of friends, creating unforgettable memories. "It made me feel special, because she asked me."
