An elderly woman nearly caused a nursing mom to cry recently. The mom, Briar Luisa McQueen, was having breakfast at a local restaurant with her infant son Jaxon. When Jaxon started crying, McQueen knew he was hungry as well. Instead of denying her son, McQueen began breastfeeding Jaxon at the table.

When McQueen looked up, she saw an older lady walking over to her table. McQueen thought the lady was going to reprimand her for feeding the baby, but instead, the lady was being a good citizen. She cut up McQueen’s breakfast for her and told her what a great mom she was. McQueen took a photo of the woman cutting up her food and Jaxon nursing and posted it on Facebook.

While the elderly woman who helped McQueen was definitely pro nursing in public, most of the public is divided. ABC News reports that more than half of the people polled for a survey in Babytalk magazine were against it because it reminds them of sex and sexuality.

Though the public isn’t sure about public nursing, the benefits of breastfeeding a baby are well-documented. Breast milk, according to ABC News, protects infants from the viruses that cause colds and the flu. It also protects them against obesity, respiratory infections and pneumonia.

Babies, however, aren’t the only who benefit from breast feeding. Moms who breastfeed reportedly burn an additional 500 calories per day and may be less prone to breast and ovarian cancer, Type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis, according to ABC News.
Mcqueen's Facebook post is transcribed below:

Just wanted to share this really sweet moment I had this morning.
Today was the first time I went out for breakfast alone with my 8 week old son, I had just received my breakfast and hot chocolate when Jaxon started crying wanting his booby so of course I fed him, after a few minutes this older lady walked up to me, I was scared, thinking she was gonna tell me to put my boob away, instead she starts cutting up my breakfast for me and said "what a good mama you are, we can't have your food getting cold can we".
I honestly could have cried
😍😢 loveliest lady EVER!!
