One of the more dynamic areas of a property is its backyard, as it goes through many iterations in a family's lifetime. When the kids are babies, it's full of infant toys and kiddie pools. As they get older, swingsets and trampolines come into play. Once they're out of the house, it's usually the parents' time to enjoy their outdoor space, and decks and spas are installed. To that end, there's a new trend becoming popular: the backyard personal pub.

Many of these "drinking establishments" are created out of what used to be backyard sheds storing lawnmowers and tools - clearly indicating that the owners' priorities prize leisure over weekend chores.

Although it looks small from the outside, the pub-shed shown below reveals a Marilyn Monroe-themed bar, complete with a flat-screen television for watching the game.

A shed-to-pub renovation doesn't require a big shed; a couple of benches and a center grille easily makes for a comfortable hideaway, and only a few mirrors and decorative steins are needed to transform it into a cozy tavern.

Pubs are far from the only structures being created out of simple backyard sheds. Many are designed and renovated by the owners, which allows for incredibly specific customization.
